Snoring Cures

There are many snoring cures some use medical interventions, others are sound logical advice and some which may seem quite bizarre.

To 'cure' yourself of snoring some of the cures you may be familiar with include makingĀ  sure that you are not overweight, avoid smoking or drinking alcohol late at night.

Other cures which you can try are raising the head of the bed, this can be achieved by placing wooden blocks under the legs, it may also help you to stop snoring if you lay on your side not your back; to stop you from inadvertently rolling on to your back while you are sleeping try sewing a ball, such as a tennis ball, into the back of your pyjama top or wedge a pillow under your back.

By keeping your nasal passages open may 'cure' yourself from snoring, use a few drops of eucalyptus oil on your pillowcase or try using a humidifier in the room.

Other snoring cures you may like to try include the use of nasal strips which help to keep the nasal passages open, nasal sprays may also help or try devices which reposition your jaw.

If your snoring is caused by a medical condition surgery to remove nasal polyps, straighten a crooked nose, removal of over large tonsils or floppy soft palate tissue being cutting out to stop it vibrating may be an option as snoring 'cures', medical advice will inform you whether any of these methods will help you.

There are surgeries available such as laser surgery which is used to stiffen the palate to reduce vibrations or Somnoplasty which uses radio frequency to shrink the soft palate tissue as an alternative to having it cut out.

Some of the more bizarre snoring cures include putting babies dummy into the snorer's mouth and for the brave there is wristband which gives a small electric shock with each snort! An old fashioned 'cure' for snoring is to sleep without pillows as anything which causes a crick in the neck is meant to make you snore. One of the strangest 'cures' is to tape the snorer's lips together with sticky tape, but this 'cure' should not be tried on anyone who snores due to breathing difficulties.
